For years I've been wanting to visit Cocos Island as it is well known within the diving community for sharks, lots and lots of sharks. It is also known for deep sites, strong currents, and sometimes difficult dive conditions, but that's the price you have to pay to be able to see large ocean creatures.
When I heard PRETOMA and Turtle Island Restoration Network were organizing a research trip to tag sharks and turtles at Cocos, I jumped at the chance to join them! Not only would I get a chance to dive my dream locale, I'd be able to contribute to the conservation of endangered species.
